A war with miscalculations

Pak Sahafat – The United States and Europe, who with their provocations and financial-military aid to Ukraine in recent years, have paved the way for the start of a war between Moscow and Kiev, now, seeing the opposite result of their calculations, are pressuring Zelensky to return to the negotiating table.

In recent weeks, several major developments took place on the Ukrainian front, the first of which was the annexation of 15% of Ukraine’s territory to Russia. Thus, Zelensky lost four regions of his country, including “Donetsk”, “Luhansk”, “Kherson” and “Zaprogya” following a referendum.

Recently, Ukrainian forces managed to enter Kherson following the retreat of Russian forces, and Zelensky addressed the hundreds of Ukrainians present in this area and said: We are entering all the occupied territories step by step.

The entry into Kherson, known as a vital Black Sea port and a gateway to Crimea in southern Ukraine, was perhaps the most important success of Volodymyr Zelensky’s forces since the war with Russia in early March 2021.

Meanwhile, following the withdrawal of Russian forces, which seems to be taking place according to a previous plan and following some meetings between the security officials of the two countries in Turkey, Zelensky insists on his terms despite the pressure from the White House.

With regard to this situation, recently the German newspaper “Junge Volt” severely criticized the continuation of the war in Ukraine and the lack of negotiations with Russia to stop the war, writing that “the world has become hostage to Biden’s stupidity and Zelensky’s Napoleonic complex.”

Why the pressure on Zelensky to negotiate?

Not long ago, the “Washington Post” newspaper revealed the White House’s pressure on Zelensky to negotiate with Russia and reported that American officials have warned the Ukrainian government in private conversations that it needs to show its readiness to negotiate with Russia.

The reason for the pressure of the Western allies on Zelensky is because most of their equations have backfired. Therefore, the trap that Europe and America had laid for Russia, they have finally caught themselves in it, and now every day its consequences and problems are showing themselves more than ever.

During this time, they are dealing with the very heavy consequences of this war; Economic crisis, energy crisis, food crisis, multiple increase of gas and electricity bills in Europe, closing of thousands of companies and stores, protests and strikes… have been only part of the terrible consequences of this war.

Biden’s costly gamble in Ukraine

Now, on the eve of the cold season, the difference between Ukraine and the Western allies has become apparent, so that Europe and the United States are demanding an end to the war with the aim of getting out of the economic and energy crisis, while they themselves are setting the stage for the start of the war with extensive incitement and support.

Western project in Ukraine

From the very beginning of March 2021, when the war between Ukraine and Russia started, Zelensky noticed this trap and the game of the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), but at that time, as the famous saying goes, “it was over.”

He, who had stepped into this valley with the instigation and encouragement of the West, immediately noticed the withdrawal of the Westerners after the start of the war, and by publishing a video message through his Facebook account, strongly criticizing the Western allies, he emphasized that “Ukraine is left alone against Russia.”

Some prominent thinkers of international relations, such as John Mearsheimer and former US officials such as Henry Kissinger, clearly identify Ukraine’s provocation by the West and showing the open doors of NATO to accept Ukraine’s membership as the main cause of the current Russia-Ukraine war.

A one-sided look at the cause of the Ukrainian crisis

Since the beginning of Russia’s military operations in Ukraine, the United States and the West, while imposing extensive sanctions against Moscow and continuing to provide aid to Ukraine, have always taken a unilateral position regarding the developments in this country and accused Russia of warmongering.

Recently, Yoshiro Mori, the former prime minister of Japan, said in an interview with the Nikkei magazine: Why does everyone criticize Russian President Vladimir Putin, but no one criticizes Zelensky? He has caused a lot of pain and suffering to many Ukrainian people.

He added: Japanese media have a one-sided approach and behave according to western information sources. I cannot digest that they only use American and European media as sources.

In general, it should be said that since 2014, when the tension between Russia and Ukraine rose over Crimea and led to the annexation of this island to Russia, America and Europe tried to turn this European country into a playground for Russia’s battle; A war that the Westerners pursued since its launch with goals such as weakening Russia, selling weapons and expanding NATO.

After about 8 months of the crisis, they now see their calculations and equations upside down and are trying to put pressure on Zelensky in the hope that by opening the diplomatic doors, they will get rid of the Ukraine quagmire and its consequences.
