150 million African children are trapped in extreme poverty

Pak Sahafat – A global charity organization reported that more than 150 million children in East and South Africa are suffering from extreme poverty and climate change disaster.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, Anatoly news agency wrote, the country director of the international charity organization “Save the Children” in Rwanda said that the two problems of climate emergency and inequality are intertwined.

According to this report, South Sudan is at the top of the countries in East and South Africa where 87% of the country’s children are likely to be affected by severe poverty and the double climate change disaster. Also, 80% of children in Mozambique and 73% in Madagascar are in the next ranks of this phenomenon.

This organization warned that if the crisis of climate change and inequality is not solved immediately, the frequency and severity of human crises and the cost of living can increase.

Ivan Arunga, Save the Children country director for Kenya and Madagascar, said: “The crisis of climate change and inequality cannot be solved in isolation because they are intertwined.

He added: Crises like this lead people to extreme poverty and make millions more vulnerable to floods or droughts caused by climate change.

According to this report, at least 16.3 million children in Kenya (67% of the country’s children) live with the double effects of poverty and the climate change crisis.
