President of Iraq: The journey of Pakistani pilgrims to the shrines will be facilitated

Pak Sahafat – The President of Iraq welcomed the expansion of bilateral cooperation with Pakistan and emphasized that the journey of the pilgrims of this country to the holy places in Iraq will be facilitated.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency’s report from the Public Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who is in Baghdad for an official visit to Iraq, met today with the President of the country, Abdul Latif Rashid.

Welcoming the signing of the agreement on cultural cooperation between the two countries and the cancellation of visas for the diplomatic forces of Pakistan and Iraq, Rashid called for the deepening of bilateral relations in the fields of economy, trade, investment and tourism.

Expressing confidence in the growing process of interaction between Pakistan and Iraq, he added that the Iraqi government is proud to host pilgrims from different countries, especially Pakistan, and these trips will be facilitated more.

In this meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan expressed his gratitude to the government of Baghdad for the cooperation to open the Consulate General of Pakistan in Najaf Ashraf, and stated that he had constructive discussions with his Iraqi counterpart regarding the expansion of bilateral interactions.

Zardari emphasized that Pakistan supports the efforts of the Iraqi government in the war against terrorism and in this regard declares its readiness to develop defense and military relations as much as possible.

According to this report, Pakistan’s foreign minister, who is in Baghdad for an official visit to Iraq, discussed strengthening bilateral relations and regional developments during a meeting with his Iraqi counterpart.

Zardari’s visit is based on the official invitation of Fawad Hossein, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq. The Foreign Minister of Pakistan and his accompanying delegation arrived in Baghdad today.

The movement of diplomatic, military, defense and security delegations between Pakistan and Iraq has increased significantly in recent years, and it indicates that the two countries are on the path of political, defense and military cooperation. The visit of Pakistan’s Foreign Minister to Baghdad is also considered as another step of the two countries to develop these relations.

Pakistan and the Republic of Iraq signed a memorandum of cooperation to develop tourism and facilitate people-to-people communication, including the movement of Pakistani pilgrims to Iraq.
