Prior to sending the draft agreement to the countries, senior officials of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan consulted with the relevant governments and subsequently the draft agreement was sent to these countries, Pakistani media reported.

This Agreement shall enter into force upon ratification by those States.

According to a statute approved by the federal government, all tour operators in the country must register with the Ministry of Religious Affairs and obtain a permit from the Department of Travel to send pilgrims to Iran, Iraq and Syria.

Accordingly, shipping services from Karachi and Gwadar to Iran and Iraq have been launched and the relevant contacts and correspondence with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs in Islamabad have been completed.

The Iraqi and Iranian governments did not object to sending pilgrims by ship from Pakistan.

According to Pakistani sources, for security reasons, road travel is gradually being minimized and passengers are being transferred to shipping services that are also affordable and safe.
