Pakistan addresses Sweden: Stop anti-Islamism

Pak Sahafat – The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden as well as the anti-Islamic statements in the Netherlands and demanded that these countries deal decisively with insulting acts against the Islamic world and respect the feelings of Muslim nations.

According to official Pak Sahafat sources on Tuesday morning, The Foreign Ministry on Monday night strongly condemned Islamophobia in the West, including blasphemy against the holy book of Muslims in the Holy Quran, as well as insulting remarks by a Dutch politician about attacking Islam during the holy month of Ramadan.

The statement said: The heinous acts of Islamophobia and provocation have no purpose other than to hurt the feelings of more than 1.5 billion Muslims around the world. Such actions are never in line with the right to freedom of expression or opinion, which under international human rights law has responsibilities such as not reflecting hate speech and inciting people to violence.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry added: Muslims, including in Pakistan, unequivocally condemn insults to Islam, Christianity, and other heavenly religions, and oppose any acts of violence based on religion or belief. These principles must be equally respected and supported by all.
