Imran Khan : The US war on terrorism had the opposite effect

Criticizing Washington’s actions in Afghanistan and the need to change its attitude towards its military actions abroad, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the US war on terror has backfired and has led to the growth of terrorism worldwide.

Pakistani media quoted Imran Khan as saying in an interview with CNN analyst and special presenter Farid Zakaria on Sunday night.

Expressing concern over the escalation of the situation in Afghanistan and the need for the international community to cooperate with the current government in Kabul, the Pakistani Prime Minister said: “There is no other option in Afghanistan so far, so we must engage with the Taliban.”

“Sooner or later, the world must recognize the Taliban government in Afghanistan because it is about the well-being and future of 40 million Afghans,” he said. There is no alternative to the Taliban, so the only option the world has right now is to engage with the Taliban to move things forward.

Imran Khan said the United States should understand that dislike of the Taliban government is one thing, but should be concerned with the well-being of Afghans because they face serious problems.

“Pakistan is still hosting 3 million Afghan refugees and does not have the capacity to host refugees from the neighboring country,” he said. In this situation, we must cooperate with the Afghan Taliban, otherwise the whole country will be in chaos.

“The US war on terrorism has backfired and increased the number of terrorists around the world,” he said. They lost their lives in the war.

“Afghanistan is on the verge of experiencing its worst humanitarian crisis,” he said. Given this situation, is there another alternative to the Taliban in Afghanistan? No, it does not exist.

“Pakistan has had to bear the brunt of the war with a series of suicide bombings, so we believe Washington should reconsider its drone strike policies,” he concluded.
