Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has strongly criticized the US approach to looking at relations with Pakistan through the lens of Afghanistan.
“The military solution to the Afghan crisis was doomed to failure from the beginning, but the United States continued its military intervention for 20 years to fight the Taliban, but now that the Taliban have taken control of large parts of Afghanistan,” he told foreign reporters in Islamabad. Washington wants to use Pakistan to destabilize the country.
“Islamabad does not support any Afghan group or party and only thinks of promoting lasting peace and stability in the region,” Imran Khan said, referring to Pakistan’s accusations of Pakistani support for the Taliban.
“I think the Americans have decided that India should be their strategic partner, so their attitude and policies towards Pakistan have changed,” he said.
The Pakistani prime minister has previously opposed giving US military bases to control military operations in Afghanistan, saying Islamabad would not be involved in any war or military cooperation with the United States.
