Pakistani newspapers and electronic media widely covered the visit of Interior Minister Ahmad Wahidi and a high-level delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Islamabad and meetings with high-ranking political and military officials.

Pakistani state radio reported: Tehran and Islamabad agreed to form a joint working group to strengthen bilateral relations.

“During the meeting of the Iranian Interior Minister with the political and military leaders of Pakistan, the two sides agreed to form a joint working group to promote mutual cooperation,” the Islamabad-based Dawn newspaper reported today.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran’s support for Pakistan’s efforts to fight terrorism and thwart sabotage by third parties is reassuring and shows how opposition elements are trying to undermine these interactions by observing deepening relations between neighbors,” Nawai Waqt wrote.

Pakistan’s Nation newspaper also wrote today: Tehran and Islamabad counterterrorism cooperation is expanding. The report further states that the Iranian Interior Minister strongly condemned the recent terrorist incidents in Pakistan and the two countries were determined to work closely together against security disruptions on the common border.

Pakistan’s “Dunya News” news network also reported on the Iranian Interior Minister’s meetings with Pakistani officials: Ahmad Wahidi, while condemning the recent terrorist incidents in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, emphasized that terrorist elements and affiliated groups are the main enemy of humanity.
