Thwarting terrorist operations in Baghdad; One ton of explosives were seized

Following the horrific explosion of oxygen cylinders at Baghdad’s Ibn al-Khatib Hospital, Iraqi security sources announced that a terrorist operation in the center of the country had been foiled, seizing a ton of explosives and bombed capsules.

The Iraqi Security Information Center (affiliated with the Iraqi Army) announced in a statement this afternoon (Tuesday) that a terrorist operation in Baghdad had been foiled.

According to the official Iraqi news agency (WAA), the statement said that a checkpoint in Baghdad province was able to find a 1,000-kilogram consignment of explosives in the western part of the province.

According to the report, the shipment belonged to what is called the “southern region” of ISIS terrorist groups.

The statement went on to say that the 1,000-kilogram consignment was to be used in the construction of suicide vehicles and bombs.

The Iraqi Security Information Center explained that terrorist groups were trying to use the material to carry out terrorist operations in Baghdad; but the security forces confiscate these materials and hand them over to the relevant authorities to be destroyed.

The report comes as about two weeks ago, Iraq witnessed a large explosion at Baghdad’s Ibn al-Khatib Hospital, which killed more than 80 people and injured 110 others.

Iraqi media reported that the cause of the incident was the explosion of an oxygen capsule in Ibn al-Khatib Hospital, where the patients of “Covid 19” were hospitalized.
