The leader of the Sadr faction of Iraq claimed in a speech to a number of his supporters that “I give you the good news that my martyrdom or death is imminent”.
Iraqi media and social media users published a video of Sadr’s leader Sayyid Muqtada al-Sadr speaking to a number of his supporters, announcing the imminent time of his martyrdom or death.
In this video, he says: “It seems that only one thing activates the Sadr movement; it’s my death or murder then they say Muqtada is dead. I may be a new martyr and this death will revive what has been lost.”

Seyyed Muqtada Al-Sadr added: “I give you the good news that if God succeeds, my martyrdom or death is near.”
The release of the video prompted a number of Muqtada al-Sadr’s supporters to gather around his home in al-Hanana. This prompted security concerns in the office of the leader of the Sadr movement, who issued a statement urging them to end their rally near Muqtada al-Sadr’s home.
