Saudi interference in the events in Jordan / Issue of two statements in less than a few hours

Saudi Arabia’s early response to the recent events in Jordan and the issuance of two statements in this regard within a few hours will raise many questions in this regard.

Within a few hours, Riyadh issued its second statement on the recent events in Jordan and stressed that it stands by the country. However, there are possibilities regarding the connection of the detainees in Jordan with Saudi Arabia.

In addition, thousands of Saudi Twitter accounts have denied allegations against Riyadh of threatening Jordan’s stability in response to last night’s events in Jordan by creating the hashtag “Jordan is in the heart of the Saudis.”

In addition, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, in turn, issued a statement stressing that his country stands by Jordan under the reign of King Abdullah II and Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah.

The Saudi Foreign Minister further stated that the stability and prosperity of Jordan is the basis for the stability and prosperity of the whole region.

Riyadh’s first statement in this regard, issued by the Royal Court, was the first Arab and international reaction to the events in Jordan, which raised many questions about Riyadh’s rush to react to these events.

One of the most prominent detainees in Jordan is Basim Awadullah, the former head of the Royal Court and a close associate of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and one of the founders of the famous Neom project in Saudi Arabia.

The Washington Post reported Saturday night that the Jordanian government had arrested Prince Hamza bin Hussein and 20 others on charges of “threatening national security.” “Jordanian authorities have arrested Prince Hamza bin Hussein along with 20 others for allegedly threatening Jordan’s security,” the Washington Post reported.

The Washington Post reported that the arrests followed what was “planned” a coup to overthrow the government of the current Jordanian King Abdullah II.

Meanwhile, the Jordanian army and the state-run news agency Petra denied allegations that the former Crown Prince had been arrested; saying those two senior Jordanian court officials and several others had been detained on Saturday (April 3rd) for security reasons.
