ISIS leader trapped in Qadisiyah, Mosul

The Iraqi Military Intelligence Center announced Tuesday evening that it has arrested one of the most prominent ISIL elements in western Mosul, dubbed the “intruder.”

According to IRNA on Tuesday, a statement from the Iraqi Military Intelligence Center affiliated with the Iraqi Ministry of Defense said: According to the confessions of an ISIS terrorist woman, we found the location of the presence of her terrorist son, nicknamed the intruder, in the Qadisiyah area of Mosul.

The statement stating that he was one of the most prominent members of the so-called “ISIL police”: Military intelligence teams from the 15th Brigade, in cooperation with forces from the 3rd Regiment of the 73rd Brigade, marched towards the target and ambushed the terrorist at the scene.

The statement also said that “the arrested person, known as ISIL police, is in this anti-Islamic terrorist group.”

Recently, the Iraqi security forces, as well as the popular mobilization, especially in the provinces of Anbar, Salah al-Din and Mosul, have launched several operations to pursue and arrest ISIL members. One of these measures is the large-scale operation “Aswad Al-Jazeera” (Island Lions).

Two days ago, an intelligence agency called the Federal Intelligence and Investigation Bureau of the Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of an ISIL mufti nicknamed “Abu Rahma” in Salah al-Din province.

One week ago, the Iraqi Ministry of Defense’s Military Intelligence Center announced the arrest of a leader of the ISIS terrorist group in western Ninawa.

The center said in a statement that with the coordination of joint intelligence with a number of security centers and the 3rd Regiment of the 73rd Infantry Division, the terrorist “Abu Elias”, the head of the Ain Goliath group operating in the Al-Jazeera region, was arrested. He was wanted by security and intelligence forces under Article 4 of the Anti-Terrorism Law and was arrested at his home in the village of Karsh, al-Ayyadiyah district, west of Ninawa.

In 2017, after three years of fighting, Iraq declared victory over the terrorist group “ISIL”, but the scattered elements and nuclei of this terrorist group are still active in some areas of the provinces of “Diyala, Kirkuk, Ninawa, Salah al-Din, Al-Anbar and Baghdad.”
