Fire at the Jeddah power plant in Saudi Arabia

News sources reported a fire in one of the tanks of the Jeddah power plant in Saudi Arabia.

The Okaz newspaper added that the accident was caused by a fuel leak.

According to the report, following the fire that broke out at the power plant in the Rabigh area of Jeddah, firefighting teams were dispatched to the scene after the alarm sounded and were contained.

The Saudi Electricity Company stated that the cause of the fire at the Rabigh power station was due to a limited fuel leak from the tanks and was completely accidental.

The report did not provide further details on whether the fire was intentional or not. The amount of damage and even an estimate of other possible damage as a result of the fire have not been announced by Saudi officials.

The port of Jeddah is one of the most important trade and tourism centers in Saudi Arabia. The city’s airport, located on the shores of the Red Sea, has long been highly unsafe due to drone strikes by Yemeni forces.

For more than six years, Saudi Arabia has been killing many people in Yemen with its relentless attacks, while besieging it. According to the United Nations, more than 100,000 Yemeni children are on the verge of death due to the food and medicine blockade of Yemen by Saudi Arabia.
