Damascus: US and Western sanctions must be lifted

Bassam Sabbagh, Syria’s permanent representative to the United Nations, stressed his opposition to any foreign interference and sanctions in the work of the drafting committee.

Speaking at a Security Council meeting, he said: The constitution and everything related to it is a Syrian issue that must be determined by the Syrians themselves.

Sabbagh stated: Speaking at the UN General Assembly, Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal al-Muqaddad said that Syria always welcomes any sincere and impartial plan or effort to help it emerge from the crisis.

He said: Reconciliations in Daraa province reflect Syria’s emphasis on restoring security and stability throughout the country while ensuring the health of its citizens and preventing the shedding of innocent blood.

The Syrian Permanent Representative to the United Nations also noted the role of the Security Council in maintaining international peace and security, and using some of it to intervene in Syrian affairs and destabilize security and stability over the past 10 years.

He stressed the need to end the war and to end the illegal foreign military presence on Syrian soil and to lift the unilateral economic coercive measures imposed by the United States and the European Union against Syria.

The Syrian Permanent Representative to the United Nations called for support for the Syrian government and its allies in their efforts to fight terrorism, restore security and stability, and rebuild damaged infrastructure.

Sabaf also cited Turkish aggression and sabotage on Syrian soil, including supporting terrorism, killing, destruction, looting of wealth and the use of water as a tool to serve his political games.

He announced: Syria once again calls on the Security Council to fulfill its duty to stop the crimes of Turkey and to end the presence of its forces on Syrian soil.

Al-Miqdad emphasizes the need to expose the oppressive actions of the West against the Syrian people

Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal al-Maqdad met with a group of Syrian citizens living in the United States to describe the Syrian government’s efforts to establish security and stability throughout the country and to rebuild what was destroyed by terrorists.

During the meeting, he referred to the negative effects and consequences of the economic blockade and the sanctions imposed by the United States and other Western countries against the Syrian people, and stressed the need to expose Washington’s actions.

The Syrian citizens living in the United States also praised the sacrifices of the Syrian Arab Army to eliminate terrorism and the efforts of the Syrian government to meet the basic needs of the citizens.
