Daily Sabah; why did Ben-Muslim tend to de-escalate tensions with Iran?

The Daily Sabah newspaper wrote in a report that the defeat of two ambitious crown princes of Arab countries in forming an anti-Iranian bloc and trying to break out of isolation in the Yemeni crisis is one of the reasons for Riyadh’s desire to defuse tensions with Tehran.

The Turkish daily Sabah reported on the de-escalation of tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia in a report: In an interview with a Saudi television channel, the recent Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman spoke of his desire to have good and distinctive relations with Iran.

He also spoke of his interest in resolving the problems between Riyadh and its allies with Tehran and strengthening mutual and positive interests with the country.

According to the report, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh also welcomed the Saudi Crown Prince’s remarks and stressed Iran’s interests at the beginning of a new round of interaction and cooperation with the Saudis.

Referring to media reports about the meeting between the officials of the two countries in Iraq, the Daily Sabah wrote: It is no secret that Riyadh, which was left alone in Yemen by Joe Biden’s government, seeks to end its isolation in Yemen. The decision of the Saudi Crown Prince to abandon the construction and formation of an anti-Iranian bloc has several dimensions.

The Turkish newspaper added: Donald Trump’s policy of maximum pressure against Iran, which was designed in cooperation with the Persian Gulf countries, has failed to bring Iran to the negotiating table. Because of the Biden administration’s desire to return to Burjam, the Washington administration is unlikely to insist on the 12 terms of former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

The next issue is that the efforts of the two ambitious crown princes of the Arab countries to change the shape and nature of the region have also failed. Mohammad bin Salman, whose reputation has been severely damaged by the brutal assassination of Jamal Khashgechi, is pursuing the same economic outlook for 2030 as well as fighting extremism.

The UAE Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed, who is trying to resolve the issue behind closed doors, has also failed in his plan to establish new regional order and contain Iran and Turkey.

Daily Sabah added: Even their mission to besiege Qatar was unsuccessful, and although Doha did not accept any of their conditions, including the closure of the Turkish base in Qatar (and the severance of ties with Iran), they did so on January 5, 2021. Saudi Arabia ended with the presence of the Emir of Qatar.

In addition, it is now clear that the United States is retreating further from the region, the report added. With the withdrawal from Afghanistan, Washington is expected to focus on Iraq and adhere to its existing commitments in Syria, rather than making more commitments in the region.

This, in turn, will intensify competition between regional powers as well as Russia.
