3,000 Moroccan pilgrims wander in Saudi Arabia after the closure of the air border

3,000 Moroccan pilgrims are wandering in Saudi Arabia following the emergence of the new Omicron and the closure of the air border.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency International Group, an insider in Saudi Arabia said that about 3,000 Moroccans are still wandering in Saudi Arabia after performing Umrah rituals.

Al-Khalij Al-Jadeed website wrote: This is due to the decision of the Moroccan authorities to stop air traffic with the emergence of a new strain of the corona virus “Omicron”, which has intensified the suffering of pilgrims due to high hotel prices and additional costs.

Moroccan pilgrims have condemned the actions of Moroccan authorities to stop flights that have caused them to wander in Saudi Arabia.

The Moroccan newspaper Al-Masaa reported that the pilgrims were forced to demonstrate in front of the Saudi embassy in Jeddah to draw the attention of the relevant authorities to their suffering from continuing their stay in Saudi Arabia.

Representatives of Moroccan agencies, in turn, supported the pilgrims, who feared that the Saudi authorities would impose financial fines, especially as their visas expired and they were delayed in leaving Saudi Arabia.

Travel agencies contracted with pilgrims to address the wandering pilgrims’ crisis also sent correspondence to officials, whose correspondence went unanswered and the crisis was suspended indefinitely.

According to the source, Moroccan pilgrims contacted all relevant authorities to resolve their concerns.

The Saudi Ministry of Health approved the monitoring of the increase in the epidemiological curve of the corona virus in the country, and called on the community and individuals to take preventive measures and supplement the doses of the corona vaccine due to the increase in the level of safety.
