14 human rights organizations are concerned about the fate of a Saudi university activist

Pak Sahafat – 14 human rights organizations expressed their concern about the fate of a prominent Saudi political activist imprisoned by the Riyadh government and demanded his release as soon as possible.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency from Arab media, 14 human rights organizations in a message asked the government of Saudi Arabia to reveal the fate and whereabouts of “Mohammed Al Qahtani”, a prominent academic and human rights activist.

These organizations have sent this message to many embassies of Riyadh in some European and foreign countries, including America, France, Germany and Switzerland, as well as the United Nations Human Rights Commissioner.

These human rights organizations expressed concern about the fate of al-Qahtani and announced that he has been kidnapped and cut off from his family for more than a month.

Earlier, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders expressed concern about the fate of political activist Muhammad Al-Qahtani imprisoned in Saudi Arabia.

Marie Lalor said in a speech: We are worried about the published reports about the family of this Saudi activist not knowing about his fate, after complaining about mistreatment of him and other prisoners.

He added: We ask the Saudi authorities to inform Al-Qahtani’s family about his whereabouts and health and to allow his family and lawyer to contact him.

Lalor added: Saudi officials have accused Al-Qahtani of providing false information to foreign parties and the United Nations.

Mohammad Fahad Mufleh al-Qahtani is a professor of economics and political activist in Saudi Arabia and one of the founders of the Foundation for Civil and Political Rights in Saudi Arabia. He was arrested in March 2011 on charges of human rights activities and sentenced to 10 years in prison and a 10-year travel ban after the end of his imprisonment.

Al-Qahtani’s family has lost contact with him since last month.
