Theft of one terabyte of data from the Saudi Aramco oil company

News media reported that a large amount of data from the Saudi oil company Aramco had been stolen and that the hacker had demanded money in exchange for deleting the information.

News sources reported Wednesday that a large amount of data from the Saudi oil company Aramco had been stolen and that hackers had demanded $ 50 million from the company to recover the information.

The Associated Press reports that Saudi Aramco has confirmed the theft of information; however, he said that the theft was committed through one of the contractors.

An official from the Saudi oil company told the Associated Press that the amount of information was limited and made no mention of the contractor.

The official said the leak was not due to intrusion into the company’s systems and had no effect on the company’s performance.

However, the Associated Press reported that one terabyte of Aramco information had been stolen, citing information obtained by Darknet.

According to the report, the hackers offered Aramco to delete the data if they received $ 50 million in ciphers.

This is not the first time that the Saudi oil company has been targeted by cyberattacks. Aramco was previously attacked in 2012 by a virus called “Shamoon” that disrupted the company’s computers.

The Saudi oil company was once again targeted in 2017 by another virus that was said to be a new version of the Chamon virus.
