The commotion of settlement suspensions; America’s trap for reconciling Palestine

Joe Biden’s government appears to have advised its media outlets to, talk about a change in US policy on the Palestinian issue and the Arab-Israeli conflict and it seems that Biden intends to return to normalcy and pressure the Israeli regime to suspend settlement in the West Bank, and eventually pave the way for the resumption of new US-sponsored compromise talks.

Those interested in US plots against the Palestinian cause are shocked to hear the surprising news that the Biden administration is pressuring the Tel Aviv regime to halt construction in the West Bank; the news was intended to convince the Arab region that a change in US policy had taken place, and that the Washington administration had asked Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett to suspend the settlement.

The fact is that the publication of such news creates a lot of misunderstanding for the audience; because the suspension means stopping construction on residential complexes. The report says that the Israeli Prime Minister, at the request of the Biden government, prevented the convening of a meeting of the “High Council for Planning and Construction” in the Civil Administration affiliated with the Israeli army. The council approves the construction of new settlement complexes in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem by holding periodic meetings.

Although Biden’s government has apparently pressured Tel Aviv to do so, anyone with sufficient knowledge of the Bent-Lapid cabinet structure will be convinced that the news is mere gossip and that Biden is seeking to bring the situation back to normal; That is, the resumption of negotiations with the supervision and mediation of the US government in favor of Israel. This is something that Benjamin Netanyahu (former Israeli Prime Minister) is trying to do and is trying to bring the Palestinian Authority to the negotiating table. But the Palestinian Authority made the resumption of talks conditional on the cessation of settlements, which was met with a negative response from Netanyahu. The fact is that construction is going on in all the towns and nothing has changed and the Bent-Lapid cabinet is fully implementing the decisions of the former government.

The negotiations that the Palestinian Authority, as well as the United States and Israel, need are negotiations that do not have a time limit for their completion and that no conditions are imposed on the Palestinians. As for the Palestinian Authority, it needs such negotiations to justify its existence, especially since many Palestinians have called for the dissolution of the Palestinian Authority in the wake of the stalemate and the continuing occupation of the West Bank. The United States also needs these talks to complete the Arab-Israeli conflict, claiming that it can resolve other sensitive issues in the region.

Welcoming the talks, Naftali Bennett wants to prove himself stronger than Netanyahu before the Israelis, who have been in talks for seven years since taking office. Even if the news of the suspension of settlements in the West Bank is not a big lie, the resumption of negotiations between the Palestinian Authority and the Zionist regime under the exclusive supervision of the United States will be inevitable and fruitless.
