Will it be Bashar al-Assad’s last appearance in the Syrian presidential election?

International affairs experts believe that the next term of the Syrian presidency will see an increase in Western pressure and efforts by the United States and its allies to prevent the Arab countries from moving towards Damascus. In this way, they will try to prevent the reconstruction of the devastation caused by the Syrian war so that they may be able to turn the last period of Bashar al-Assad’s presidency into a bitter day in the public mind of the Syrian people.

On the contrary, Bashar al-Assad entered the election campaign with the slogan “Hope for Work” and hopes that in this period he will be able to bring Syria to favorable conditions in the process of rebuilding Syria and overcoming the political and economic security consequences of a decade of comprehensive war against the country.

As one of the most important interventionist currents in Syria, which previously had a significant role in supporting armed and terrorist groups, the United States has now deployed its forces in the oil-rich areas of northeastern Syria under the pretext of fighting ISIS.

According to available news sources, earlier this week, a US delegation met with senior officials of the Kurdish Democratic Fighting Groups in northern Syria, known as the “Syrian Democratic Forces (QSD)” and the “Syrian Democratic Assembly”, and senior members of parliament and tribal elders. And their military counterparts in the US-led International Coalition against ISIS and international humanitarian organizations entered northeastern Syria.

According to what was published on the website of the US Embassy in Damascus on Monday, May 17, the US delegation included Joe Hood, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, along with Amy Katrona, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, and David Brownstein, US Deputy Special Envoy for Syria, and Venus Bill, form the director of the National Security Council of Iraq and Syria in the White House.

However, the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State has stated that the meetings are aimed at coordinating with Kurdish forces in the fight against ISIS, but their main goal is to exploit the potential of Syrian opposition groups as the presidential election approaches. We have seen similar movements in recent years and in previous elections, by inciting the Kurds not to participate in the elections or to take advantage of the Syrian regime in the face of deceptive promises such as Kurdish independence and Kurdish autonomy in the north and northeast.

For months, the American media has been covering some targeted news coverage, including the publication of pictures of Abu Muhammad al-Julani, the leader of the former takfiri terrorist group Jabhat al-Nusra, and the current Al-Sham Writers’ Committee in formal uniform without military uniform, and his remarks in consolation seeks to purify his face, It is not yet clear what the Americans plan in the aftermath of the Syrian presidential election, but what is certain is that all of these moves are aimed at using the US Jabhat al-Nusra in northern Syria and Qasd in the northeast as a tool. The country is being formed to play a role in the future political arena of Syria.

The US move comes as the country, along with a significant number of European countries including Britain, France, Italy and Germany, has been trying for about a month to question the legitimacy of the Syrian presidential election. At the same time, these sides are trying to put pressure on countries that seek to normalize relations with the government of Damascus and not allow the return of the security, political and international conditions of the past to Damascus.

Perhaps a part of the new US plan in Syria can be seen in the article by David Bullock, an international affairs expert at the Washington Academy of Near East Policy. “The United States must increase its aid to the Syrian refugees and increase its trade and investment in areas beyond the control of Bashar al-Assad’s government,” he said in the article. It is no secret that this policy is aimed at strengthening the separatism of the Kurdish regions in Syria.
