Al-Arabiya reporter resigns in protest of the media’s stance against the Palestinians

A Saudi Al-Arabiya correspondent reported on Saturday night that he had resigned from the media in protest of a report against Hamas prisoners.

Motasim Saqf al Hait Al-Arabiya Palestine, a Palestinian news photographer for Al-Arabiya, wrote on his Twitter account that Criticizing Al-Arabiya TV’s unprofessional approach to the Palestinian issue he resigned from Al Arabiya.

Saqaf al-Hait, referring to “one day it is in the hands of God” regarding his resignation from Al-Arabiya, explained that this television network does not work in any way to protect the rights of Palestinians.

The Palestinian journalist was taken after Al-Arabiya’s baseless accusations against Hamas prisoners of war that they tortured the free Palestinian Mansour Shahanit in prison for his stance on Yahya Sanwar.

Earlier, Munqiz Abu Atwan, director of the Palestinian Prisoners’ Affairs Office, referred to the situation of Palestinian prisoner Mansour al-Shahatit, who was released from Israeli prisons last Thursday after 17 years: Al-Shahatat is now suffering from mental health problems and distraction due to long solitary confinement.

“Al-Shahatat is not the only Palestinian prisoner facing mental health problems,” Atwan said: Hundreds of Palestinian prisoners returning to Palestinian society after long prison terms are no longer physically or mentally healthy.

He added: 230 Palestinian prisoners died in Israeli prisons and thousands of other sick prisoners were deprived of treatment or medicine.

According to statistics, 4,400 Palestinians are being held in Israeli prisons, 39 of whom are women, and about 350 are in administrative detention (without trial).
