Russian diplomat: The position of the US negotiating team in Vienna is “balanced”

Russia’s representative to international organizations in Vienna, Austria, said in an interview on Tuesday that the US negotiating team at the Vienna meeting on the UN Security Council was relatively balanced.

Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s envoy to international organizations in Vienna, Austria, on Tuesday described the US position in the Vienna talks on the Iran nuclear deal as “balanced” and added that the US team was actively trying to find out what was going on.

In an interview with Russia24, Ulyanov, who is chairing the Russian delegation to the Vienna talks, said: “The position of the current US negotiating team seems to be relatively balanced. They are trying to find out what happened and heed the advice.”

Ulyanov added that the US team is working to find a common ground for progress.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Tuesday that his country would do its utmost to find a viable solution to the nuclear deal with Iran, and that this would require a strong political will.

Speaking to Sputnik about today’s meeting of the Joint Commission in Vienna, Austria, he said: “Moscow, as a member of the UN Security Council, will make every effort to find appropriate solutions, and this will require a great deal of effort.”

The first round of the Borjam Joint Commission meeting, which is being held at the Grand Hotel in Vienna, ended with an agreement to continue consultations at the expert level.

According to the agreement, two parallel expert meetings were held between the members of the Joint Commission of the IAEA Board to conduct technical consultations in the field of lifting sanctions and nuclear. These expert meetings are scheduled to discuss the technical aspects and details of issues related to the lifting of sanctions and nuclear issues, and report the outcome of their discussions to the Commission.
