Saudi delegation arrives; what officials and from which countries are present at the Baghdad summit?

The arrival of the participating delegations in the one-day summit in Baghdad entitled “Cooperation and Participation” was completed before noon today, Saturday, with the arrival of the Saudi delegation.

The delegations to the summit include the Islamic Republic of Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, France, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, the UAE and Qatar, as well as the Secretaries General of the Arab League and the Gulf Cooperation Council.

Egypt and France at the level of presidents, Qatar at the level of the emir, the UAE at the level of the ruler of Dubai, Kuwait at the level of the prime minister, Jordan at the level of the king and the Islamic Republic of Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia at the level of foreign ministers.

French President Emmanuel Macron, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, Jordanian King Abdullah II, Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sabah Khalid al-Hamad al-Sabah and ruling Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Dubai and the head of the Emirati delegation were the leaders who were welcomed by Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi.

Hussein Amir Abdullahian, Ahmad Chavosh Oglu, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, the foreign ministers of Iran, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, as well as the secretary general of the Arab League, Ahmad Abu al-Gheit, and Nayef al-Hajraf, the secretary general of the Gulf Cooperation Council. They were welcomed by Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein at Baghdad International Airport.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is one of the absentees from the summit, which Hussein Amir Abdullahian criticized for not inviting to Baghdad upon his arrival.

The Iraqi government has said the summit was aimed at promoting economic partnership between countries in the region and reducing regional tensions and differences.

Emmanuel Macron told a joint news conference with her Iraqi counterpart Barham Saleh at Baghdad airport that she came up with the idea of the conference a year ago during a visit to Baghdad with Iraqi officials and was happy to see the idea implemented today.

The Baghdad summit is scheduled to take place today (Saturday) in the presence of Iraq’s neighbors, with the exception of the Syrian president and some countries in the region and abroad.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the most important participants in this summit.

In addition to Iraq’s neighbors, Qatar, the UAE and Egypt have been invited to the summit, along with permanent members of the UN Security Council and Japan.

Iraq has announced that the summit is aimed at reducing tensions in the region, developing economic relations and resolving disputes between Iraq’s neighbors.
