America’s catastrophic defeat in Afghanistan

Referring to the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan and the growing attacks by the Taliban, Axius News wrote: The Biden government must prepare for a devastating defeat against the Taliban.

The Joe Biden administration is preparing for the fall of Kabul and the withdrawal from any US diplomatic presence in Afghanistan and the evacuation of the embassy, according to the American publication’s website; The issue is the opposite of all expectations from Washington.

It seems that high-ranking US government aides are no longer tolerating even the US diplomatic presence in Afghanistan after August 31, when Biden promised to withdraw from Afghanistan. But this situation is contrary to all expectations from the Biden government. In fact, it was initially assumed that after the US military withdrawal, Kabul would last for a while and that the US could diplomatically help Afghan women maintain their rights after the US withdrawal.

Axius further wrote: The US Embassy in Kabul was not just a diplomatic building. The building was an important information center with documents that the United States is now destroying. However, the destruction of such documents has its own principles and rules.

According to a note obtained by the National Public Radio (NPR), US diplomats at the embassy were instructed to remove important papers and desktops before leaving.

So instead of trying to provide information and protect US personnel and their Afghan supporters, the US president must accept defeat in the face of Taliban control of the US embassy.

However, the Washington administration does not accept this, and a senior US State Department official told Axius: “The embassy is still open and we intend to continue our diplomatic work in Afghanistan. The United States will continue to support consular services, including emergency services for US citizens, and the processing and operation of the Special Immigrant Visa Program, and to conduct diplomacy with the Government and people of Afghanistan. In addition, we continue to focus on terrorism. We assess the security situation every day to determine how the best services can be maintained at our embassy. “This is what we do for any diplomatic post in a challenging security environment.” But the fact is that the main diplomatic team left in Kabul is so small that it cannot withstand it.

Diplomats are said to be planning with other countries to see if they are willing to accept Afghans who have served in the war against the United States.

Qatar is the first country the United States has talked to about this, and negotiations with Kuwait and other countries are said to be under way; Countries that plan to resettle a small number of Afghans for short periods.

The United States invaded Afghanistan on October 7, 2001, following the 9/11 attacks, under the pretext of fighting terrorism and to overthrow the Taliban. But now, after 20 years of military presence, a military is rapidly withdrawing from Afghanistan, a worse outcome for Washington than the Vietnam War.
